The Environmental Initiative of Attica Group has been successfully completed Naxos, 13 & 14 November 2021 “Sailing together” in the quest to protect the environment and our seas.

 Logo Attica Group

In the context of Attica Group’s "SAILING TOGETHER" responsibility programme, and with the goal of encouraging our human resources to participate more in social and environmental activities, we completed the first of a forthcoming series of actions to decontaminate the seabed and protect our islands’ marine life, in partnership with Aegean Rebreath.

Our series of environmental initiatives started in Naxos, where, on Saturday and Sunday, 13 and 14 November, our 31 employee-volunteers, together with Aegean Rebreath’s 29 volunteers and the "Naxos Wildlife Protection" Association – in collaboration with the Municipality of Naxos and with the participation of islanders and a group from the Naxos Branch of the Greek Girl-Guides Association – identified the serious problem of environmental degradation and coordinated our collective effort to take corrective action.

Over the course of the two days, volunteer divers from Aegean Rebreath and Attica Group collected and classified 2,811 recyclable items of everyday use, including 5.5 sacks of plastic bags, 1 sack of rope and 40 kilos of nets, from the cleaning of Laguna beach and the seabed of the fishing shelter at Naxos Town.

The initiative was completed with the inauguration of a Marine Waste Collection Plant, which laid the foundation for raising the awareness of the local population and actively engaging them in responding to the problem.

The aim of the programme is to instil the value of volunteering in our employees, to get closer to the local communities in which we operate, and to contribute to environmental protection, circular economy and the sustainable development of our islands for a better today and an even better tomorrow for all of us.

Attica Group is engaged in passenger shipping through SUPERFAST FERRIES, BLUE STAR FERRIES, HELLENIC SEAWAYS and AFRICA MOROCCO LINK operating 32 vessels providing modern, high-quality transportation services in Greece and abroad. Attica’s vessels serve 60 unique destinations in 4 countries, connecting 71 ports transporting over 7 million passengers, 1 million passenger vehicles and 400,000 trucks every year.
