According to the information received from the Central Port Authority of Igoumenitsa and in accordance with EU Regulation 2019/1157, from 3 August 2026 onwards, old-type Greek national identity cards will no longer be accepted as valid travel documents for international travel.
Therefore, for travel on the Adriatic routes, as well as for international travel in general, passengers must hold either:
A new-type Greek identity card that complies with the applicable security standards, or A valid passport.
