Attica Group continues to support “METADRASI”, “HOPEgenesis”, and “DODEKANISIAKI MELISSA” in 2021

Attica Group, committed to assist responsibly people in need, continues also in 2021 its support to the NGOsHOPEgenesis” and “METADRASI”, as well as to the Association “DODEKANISIAKI MELISSA”.

For Attica Group, the support to residents of the islands where its vessels travel every day, is a priority. For this reason, Attica Group supports once again these organizations in their work, through the provision of free tickets for their travelling on its vessels.

Attica Group for the 4th consecutive year, supports “HOPEgenesis” in the struggle to stop the decline in Greece’s birth rate.  The mission of the Organisation is to provide complete and free medical care to pregnant women in remote regions and islands, from the beginning of their pregnancy until labor day. Attica Group, through Blue Star Ferries & Hellenic Seaways, provided more than 2,950 free tickets to more than 220 women during 2018-2020.

“METADRASI” has undertaken the difficult task to protect and offer interpretation services to unaccompanied minors, refugee children who started their journey with an unknown and uncertain ending, and who lost everyone close to them along the way. It is the only Organisation that has a permanent presence at all important entry points to Greece, providing services that are not covered by Public Authorities or other NGOs.

Attica Group has supported the efforts of “METADRASI”, having provided free transportation for more than 5,400 people — children and Organisation escorts — during 2016-2020, and is now renewing its support for yet another year.

“DODEKANISIAKI MELISSA” was founded in 1931 and undertook the important work of providing assistance to the persecuted refugees from the Dodecanese islands arriving in Attica, prior to the islands’ integration to Greece. It consisted of women from the Dodecanese living in Athens, led by Antigone Zouroudi, “MOTHER” of the Dodecanese.

The Association continues its work to this day, and its Board of Directors, consisting of 17 volunteers from the Dodecanese, has been commended for its contribution by the Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Athens Academy. Its activity includes providing scholarships to financially weak students from the Dodecanese, providing them with the opportunity to complete their studies and follow their dreams.

Attica Group has been supporting the Association since 2019 by providing free tickets to the Dodecanese scholarship students of the Association, for their travel needs from their home to their place of study.

Attica Group is engaged in passenger shipping through SUPERFAST FERRIES, BLUE STAR FERRIES, HELLENIC SEAWAYS and AFRICA MOROCCO LINK operating 32 vessels providing modern, high-quality transportation services in Greece and abroad. Attica’s vessels serve 60 unique destinations in 4 countries, connecting 71 ports transporting over 7 million passengers, 1 million passenger vehicles and 400,000 trucks every year.
