SUPERFAST IX AND SUPERFAST X TO OPERATE IN THE SCOTLAND-BELGIUM SERVICE

Due to recent changes in its fleet composition and responding to market demand, Superfast Ferries has decided to redeploy its tonnage focusing on more commercial routes.
Superfast Ferries continues its successful presence in the Greece-Italy routes in the Adriatic Sea established in 1995, where it currently operates six Superfast ferries between Patras and Igoumenitsa to Ancona and Bari. Furthermore, Superfast Ferries maintains its strong presence in the Baltic Sea in the connection between Germany-Finland which started in May last year whereas it has decided to suspend the service between Sweden-Germany which Superfast Ferries has been operating since January this year.

As of May 17th, 2002, Superfast Ferries commences a two-ship service in the Rosyth-Zeebrugge-Rosyth route linking for the first time Scotland directly to Continental Europe by sea, to be operated by Superfast IX and Superfast X, the latest additions to its fleet, delivered in January and February this year by Howaldtswerke Deutsche Werft (HDW), Kiel, Germany.

Superfast IX and Superfast X each can accommodate 626 passengers and can carry simultaneously over 100 private vehicles and 110 large trucks and will be covering the distance in 17½ hours at a speed of up to 30 knots. Public spaces include a la carte and Buffet Restaurants, Bars, a panoramic live music Disco Lounge, Casino, Video Games Room, a Havana Club Lounge, Card Room, Sauna, Whirlpool and Massage Areas, Shops and Boutiques, Conference Rooms and Business Centre, Children's Playroom, Satellite Television and Internet facilities.

With a modern fleet of uniquely designed fast ferries and with presence in the Adriatic, the Baltic and the North Sea, Superfast Ferries is among the leading ferry operators in Europe.
