FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR THE ADRIATIC SEA ROUTES

1. In which international rail offers do Superfast Ferries and Blue Star Ferries participate in?

In the Adriatic Sea Routes (Patras - Igoumenitsa - Ancona, Patras - Igoumenitsa - Bari), Attica Group (Superfast Ferries/Blue Star Ferries) participates (as a Full member) in the International Railway Unions EURAIL and INTERRAIL, offering FREE passage, in the common international railway tickets of TCV, offering a reduced rate, in the special cards RAIL PLUS and in the special tariff offers  EURAIL “GREECE” PASS, EURAIL “ITALY” PASS, INTER RAIL “GREECE” PASS, INTERRAIL “ITALY” PASS, RIT, BALKAN FLEXIPASS, GREEK FLEXIPASS (RAIL N' FLY) and VERGINA FLEXIPASS offering a reduced rate. Attica Group also participates in DB AUTOZUG special offer for travellers who wish to transport their vehicle by train also offering a reduced rate.

2. If I have a railway pass am I entitled to travel free onboard Superfast Ferries and Blue Star Ferries?

Yes, you are entitled to travel FREE if you are holder of a EURAIL Global pass, a EURAIL Greece-Italy pass, an INTERRAIL Global Pass an INTERRAIL Greece Plus Pass or an INTERRAIL Italy Plus Pass (NEW). The railway passes split into two different categories, 1st Class and 2nd Class. 1st Class railway pass holders who wish to travel with one of our vessels are entitled to travel FREE in dormitories (where available) with common shower and WC or aircraft Type Seats and 2nd Class railway pass holders are entitled to travel FREE in deck seating.

Holders of EURAIL “Greece” pass, EURAIL “Italy” pass, INTER RAIL “Greece” pass and INTER RAIL “Italy” pass are entitled to 30% discount on our full fare rates.

3. Can I book in advance?

Rail passengers have 3 options of making a reservation: 1. At the port on the day of travel and upon availability, 2. By sending an e-mail to the following address: helpdesk@attica-group.com  (for Bari route) or helpdesk1@anek-superfast.com  (for Ancona route), 3. Via online booking.→ Online bookings for railway passengers:

BARI route

a. Choose one-way trips.
b. On the special offers, choose your type of pass (Eurail/InterRail Global, Select Pass, 1st or 2nd Class).
c. Choose your accommodation (deck, dormitories, aircraft type seat, 2bed, 3bed cabin etc.) → attention: please ignore the mentioned fares. Special fares apply for railway passengers. 
The correct prices will appear automatically on the next step (when choosing continue).You may check the valid fares on the pricelist table in question 5.
d. Confirm your itinerary by charging your credit card.
e. On the day of your travel, at the port, you are kindly requested to pass from the check-in point (2 hours in advance).
    Please present your railway pass, passport and/or ID.
In case of a wrong on line booking, any difference in pricing will be handled by the port agent, in Euros.

ANCONA route
a. Choose “one-way trips”.
b. Choose your preferred route.
c. On the “special offers” field, choose your type of pass (Eurail/InterRail Global, Select Pass, 1st or 2nd Class).
d. “Search for sailings”.
e. Follow the “5 steps” booking procedure, choosing your accommodation (deck, dormitories, aircraft type seat, 2bed, 3bed cabin etc.). On step 3 “passenger details”, at the “discount” box, choose your type of pass again.
f. Confirm your itinerary by charging your credit card.
g. On the day of your travel, at the port, you are kindly requested to pass from the check-in point (2 hours in advance).
In case of a wrong on line booking, any difference in pricing will be handled by the port agent, in Euros.

4. Are there any extra costs?

Yes, there are some extra costs. Rail passengers are required to pay, Port dues Euro 7.00 per person, per way, Fuel surcharge per person, per way (if applicable), Shoulder Season supplement Euro 10.00 per person, per way during the months of June and September and High Season supplement Euro 20.00 per person, per way during the months of July and August.


5. What is the fare I have to pay if I want to upgrade my Eurail / Interrail pass?

Rail passengers may upgrade their class of service via on line booking, onboard the vessels or by sending an e-mail to helpdesk@attica-group.com  (for Bari route) or helpdesk1@anek-superfast.com (for Ancona route)

There are no dormitories on Superfast I and Superfast II (Bari route).

INTRODUCTION

Attica Group is a full member of the International Union of Railways (UIC), for the sea transport of railway passengers between Italy and Greece. Attica Group participates as a full member in Eurail and InterRail offers. Eurail and InterRail pass holders travel free of charge and they are only liable for port dues, high or shoulder season surcharge and a fuel surcharge (if applicable). Special fares apply for possible accommodation upgrades. Holders of Eurail/InterRail “One Country Passes” and “National Passes” such as Eurail “Greece”, Eurail “Italy”, InterRail “Greece” and InterRail “Italy” Passes may travel with Superfast Ferries and Blue Star Ferries with a 30% discount on passenger brochure fares. Port dues and a fuel surcharge (if applicable) apply. Special fares apply for possible accommodation upgrades.
Attica Group is also a full member of the Common Passenger’s Tariff (TCV) and of the International Rail Transport Committee (CIT), for the sea transport of railway passengers between Italy-Greece and v.v. (sea connections Ancona/Bari – Corfu/Igoumenitsa/Patras) under the International legal regime of transport of passengers COTIF / CIV and participates as a full member in the following passes/tickets:

RIT, RAIL PLUS, BALKAN FLEXIPASS, GREEK FLEXIPASS (RAIL N’ FLY), VERGINA FLEXIPASS and DB AUTOZUG tickets.
 
Holders of the above railway passes/tickets may travel with the Group’s ships, namely Superfast Ferries and Blue Star Ferries at discounted fares. Rail pass holders traveling at discounted fares are also liable for port dues and a fuel surcharge (if applicable).  Special fares apply for possible accommodation upgrades.

DOMESTIC ROUTES
All above mentioned passes/tickets may travel in all Blue Star Ferries & Superfast Ferries domestic routes, with a 30% discount on 2013 passenger brochure fares provided that the respective rail passengers have already realized a crossing in the Adriatic Sea routes by the vessels of Attica Group namely Superfast Ferries and Blue Star Ferries and Anek Lines (on the Ancona route). 
 
Accommodation upgrades can be arranged by the port offices or the Chief Purser on board. To obtain one of the above railway passes please contact directly any TRAINOSE* train station, or any local travel agent cooperating with TRAINOSE*. If you happen to be abroad, you can obtain your railway pass at any train station, or licensed agency in Europe.
