Walking along Patras

Patras is a lively port and university town, a place where entertainment and culture combine to create a wonderful city. It is a famous holiday destination for its nightlife scene, the Carnival season, and the gate of the Greek mainland to Peloponnese.

Set your roadtrip plan in Peloponnese and travel with SUPERFAST FERRIES to live the experience onboard. With the traditional Mediterranean dishes served at the a la carte and self-service restaurants, you feel like already in a local Greek tavern enjoying finger-licking cuisine.

At the time you reach Patras, the strolling starts, and in a walking distance, you can find Georgiou Square. Have some rest and taste local cuisine in tavernas near the Apollon Theatre, designed by the famous German architect Ernst Ziller, a micrograph of the La Scala in Milan, and the oldest existing enclosed theatre of this era.

The Medieval Castle is a must-see, too. It was built during the 6th Century, on the ruins of an ancient acropolis, situated on top of the hill right above the city center. Enjoy the panoramic view of the city and the stunning sunset.

In the evening, live the dynamic pulse of Patras nightlife with an afternoon drink, which can last until the next morning thanks to its vivid nightlife all year round. If you love festive seasons, you definitely have to plan your visit during Carnival Season, which usually takes place during February. Patras’ Carnival tradition counts 180 years back in time, due to Venetian Carnival influence, and gives the town a festive rhythm throughout the year.

Travelling with SUPERFAST FERRIES in the comfort of your car gives you the opportunity to have a journey to other destinations in Peloponnese, too. The Municipal Museum of the Kalavryta Holocaust, Ancient Olympia with the unique statue of Hermes by Praxiteles, the stunning city of Nafpaktos, and the picturesque village of Kato Zachrolou are the must-see destinations to include on your roadtrip route.
